J News Issue 4
Lots
have happened recently at Team J headquarters. George retired his
B grader Titian, who at 20yrs of age has deserved his rest. Owned
by Peter Curl, Titian was a most stylish showjumper who gave George
many memorable successes, happily the new brigade have stepped up
to the mark, and are proving to be most worthy replacements for
Titian. George is heading towards the Sydney Royal Show at the end
of April with Ozbred and Pocket Rocket.
Before Christmas on the Victorian run, Pocket Rocket jumped tremendously
for an outstanding 3rd in the Wodonga World Cup Show Futurity, with
Ozbred placing in the C Grade. At The SSJC Big Four Show in January,
Ozbred was again consistent for 2 thirds in the 1.30m classes, while
at the Tempo Classic at SIEC in February, Ozbred jumped most impressively
to finish 2nd in the very prestigious Young Rider Championships.
George has gained the ride on Sue Conan's smart stockhorse cross
"Vintage Creek" and made a good start with a win and a third at
his first outing at SSJC, and last weekend a third at the Oakville
Equestrian Centre's Showjumping Competition.
My young horse Zodiac has been consistent with 2 seconds at SSJC
in the D grade and 1.10m, and at Oakville, ridden by George, was
the winner of the feature event and a colour Television! Wow eh!
Well known dressage rider Virginia Russell has offered George the
ride on her beautiful grey Dactyllus warmblood "Dan", who is showing
great potential as a jumper. This is a very exciting prospect for
the future.
Andrea Skinner has sold her warmblood "Sherman" to Hannah Macnamara
and this is looking like a good match. She has replaced him with
the stunningly attractive C grader "Mischief", who has won and placed
in his first outing at SSJC for Andrea.
Amy Robertson has continued to improve and impress with her trusty
"Snobmop", and the pair were placed in all their jumping events
at the Mitsubishi Schools Championships at SIEC and have been upgraded
to A grade at Pony Club.
I
have been running Coach Training groups here at our Nelson Equestrian
Centre on Wednesdays and will be going to Condobolin and Bourke
in April to run Jumping Clinics for the NSW Pony Club Association.
We have had our training arena expanded to increase it from a 25m
x 45m dimension, to a wonderfully spacious 35m x 75m! Very exciting!
We have also improved the surface by the addition of a layer of
shredded rubber known as Supa-surface, which has cushioned the going
wonderfully. For more information go to www.supasurface.com.au
In conjunction with Colleen Brook I will be running here, an NCAS
2 Day Compulsory Coaches Workshop on 22nd & 29th March 06. For details
and application form click
here.
Lastly and sadly, all at Teamj would like to honour and farewell
Pitt Town personality, Anne Honner, who died on Friday 24th February.
Anne was a wonderful character and talented horsewoman who died
after a short battle with cancer.
