J News Issue 2 - State Titles Success for George!
Team
Johnson supporters were delighted with George's success at the recent
NSW State Showjumping Championships at Nowra on 1st to 3rd October.
George
took a team of four horses to the 3 days of Championships: Titian,
Ozbred, Jetballs and Pocket Rocket. All horses performed well, but
it was Pocket Rocket's 3rd in the Young Rider Grand Prix that was
undoubtedly the most impressive.
From a quality field of over 30 of the state's best Young Riders,
Pocket Rocket (Elmo to his friends) was one of only 9 horses to
enter the jump off, and was third against the clock. The Warren
Priestly designed course was technical and demanding with fences
averaging 1.30m in height.Damien
Cady of Kenthurst previously rode Elmo with good results in Junior
and height classes, and he was before that a successful event horse
with Hamish Cargill.
Still
a D Grade horse, Elmo outshone his more experienced and higher graded
rivals to impress many onlookers. Non-more so than George's strapper,
Sam Gibson of Nelson who said after the performance, "We love Elmo!!
He's such a trier!"
George
is now focusing on the ACT Titles at the end of October, before
a planned trip to Victoria for shows at Shepparton and Wodonga.
