J News Issue 17- Back to Bourke again!
This
Easter I was lucky enough to be invited back to Bourke again, this
time to teach for 4 days, (2 days of Pony Club Jumping Equitation
& 2 days of Instructors Clinic).
Sadly
the drought has not eased up there and although there was some water
flowing over the Bourke weir there was not enough rain for most
farmers to plant crops, and the stories of people leaving the town
and selling up were too common.
The one thing that hadn't dried up was the enthusiasm of the Bourke
Pony Club people, as well as those who travelled hundreds of kilometres
from surrounding clubs and regions such as Tottenham, Brewarrina,
Engonia, Hungerford and Gongolon.
My job was made easy by the keen faces who greeted me every day,
eager to improve their skills and knowledge.

I
'd like to thank my hosts Allan & Cynthia Morrall, Jenny & Dan Buster
and Judith Roughley who combined to make sure I had the most enjoyable
stay imaginable!
It
was great to get away, but equally great to be home. A big thank
you to my family and especially George who kept the business going
so well in my abscence.
George
was kept busy from sun up to dark, schooling horses, giving lessons,
ordering feed, picking up horses, trying horses, answering emails
and phone calls and he did a mighty job- well done George!!!
