Team Johnson Monthly Student Profile

www.teamj.com.au

Hi and welcome to the first of our TEAM JOHNSON STUDENT RIDER PROFILES that we will be doing each month.
Septembers Student Profile focuses on AMI ROBERTSON who took some time out of her busy schedule to have a chat
with me about her horses, riding pursuits and personal interests.

We hope you enjoy this new addition to our website and we look forward to more interesting stories in the months to come.

Regards

Chrissie Johnson

Name: Ami Robertson

Age: 13yrs

CJ: What do you do?
AR: I attend Cherrybrook High School and I am in Year 9.

CJ: Tell me about your riding and your horses.
AR:
I'm a member of Hills District Pony Club,Under 21 Showjumping Club, Sydney Showjumping Club and I'm also a member of Kellyville Riding Club. I compete in B grade at Pony Club and in the90cm to 1.00m classes when at other clubs.
I have two gorgeous horses. Shanty is a 13hh palomino mare and she is terrific all rounder. She's a great jumper and a terrific sporting pony, she can also do a great dressage test. Shanty was my first horse and I still enjoy riding and competing on her. My new horse, “Snobby” (registered as Snob Mop”) he's a 16hh experienced jumper and he is teaching me a lot about jumping. I have lessons twice a week with Chrissie and I think I am making great progress with Snobby.

CJ: What are your goals -short and long term.
AR: I would like to become a riding instructor one day or do something artistic like painting or drawing.

CJ: Describe some of your successes in riding.
AR: Well, I got a 1st in the recent Kellyville Showjumping Competition in the 90cm event and I was Reserve Champion at the Zone 26 Showjumping Championships.

CJ: Do you know your horses background and breeding?
AR: This will surprise you!!  Shanti was born on 6/2/91 at Alvista Stud (Christine Reinhardt) 664 Old Pitt Town Rd Oakville about 2-3 kms or less from where she lives at Chrissies now!!! She was bred as a Harness horse, but wasn't very good apparently. Shanti appealed to Mum & Dad, because when I got her, I had only just started riding, and she would respond to verbal  aids such as  “trot” ”canter” or “halt” . From there she just kept getting better in Showjumping and Sporting particularly. We are thinking of putting Shanti in foal, once we have our new Glenorie property finished.

Snob was born at Peppercorn Stud (Picton) and is an Appaloosa/Trakehner/cross. His father is called Prince William Mop, and was born on 10/11/92. The other member of their “family” is Dad's horse Prince… an Australian Stock Horse also Palomino. They all get on well, except Prince and Snob fight over Shanti when they run free in the paddock together, at first. Once that's sorted out, they all just get on with the serious business of eating grass.

CJ:
What makes your life enjoyable and worthwhile?
AR: Horse riding.

CJ: What is your favourite movie?
AR: Robots

CJ: What is your favourite music?
AR: I like everything really!

CJ: What is your favourite food?
AR: Nutella!

CJ: What do you think you will be doing in 10 years time.
AR:
I have no idea.

CJ:
Your motto for life?
AR: Always remember to keep your hopes high!

Chrissie's comments:
Ami is a young rider with a bright future.
She is a keen learner and possesses a natural feel for jumping. She has terrific parental backing and encouragement, and retains a good work ethic, and is a focussed and diligent student. Thanks to Ami for being our very first “Team J” Student Profile.
