The Sydney Showjumping Club staged one of their most ambitious events to date this weekend at their Clarendon grounds.

The Sydney Jumping Championships were held over two days with record entries, exciting new sponsors and excellent equipment. The only thing the organizers had no control over was the weather, and Sydney's wettest December in over a decade proved to be quite a challenge.

After much consideration the decision to go ahead was made, and while there were lots of scratchings and many wet and muddy horses, there was some excellent jumping. The going was heavy but safe, and the course builders did an amazing job to constantly move fences to find the best footing.

SSJC President David Lawrence said, "Although the weather was not kind, I believe the decisions taken on all aspects of the event were the right ones at the time and this was reflected in the fact that very few, if any, complaints were received over the weekend. I am very proud of our Committee and the hard work they put in to making this weekend the success that it was!"

The feature event of the weekend, the Claron Property Group Grand Prix on Sunday was won by western Australia visitor Alison Rowland riding the beautiful Premier Des Hayettes mare Brickly Brook B.
