George Johnson is making his mark

George Johnson is quietly and consistently making his mark on the show jumping circuit in NSW. His team of horses includes the amazing one eyed thoroughbred Ozbred and the talented little mare Wondaree Sprite.

George has slowly moved his horses up the grades, careful to ensure they remain confident at each level before progressing to the next. During 2009 George had numerous first placings on both his top horses in C & D grades as well as 1.20m height classes at major shows including Gunedah Show, Jump Over the Mountains and the 2009 Weekend of World Cups where he and Sprite placed 1st in the 1.20m class.

Recently George has been venturing into the higher classes and is still featuring in the placings. His recent successes include 1st place in the Open Power and Speed on Ozzy at Hawksbury Show in April 2010 and a third place in the Grand Prix at Maitland Show on Sprite in

At the 2010 Weekend of World Cups George rode Wondaree Sprite into 5th place on Saturday in the 1.30m event ahead of an impressive line up featuring many of Australia's top show jumpers including Olympians Vicki Roycroft and Wendy Schaeffer.

The pair backed up this performance with a 2nd place in the same event on the Sunday in front of a massive crowd in the indoor arena at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre. George rode a double clear round to finish just behind the in form Andrew Inglis and Regal Status in a time of 40.57seconds.
